Service – Calibration – Repair

Crimp-Tech Australia offers calibration, service and repair of crimp tools and is factory trained by DMC Tools (Daniels Manufacturing Corporation).  We also offer these services to other brands of crimp tools.  All our calibration methods are based on published standards from the respective OEM and of the latest revision.  In the absence of OEM documentation, we would provide tensile pull testing to Australian Standards, UL or Mil-Spec Standards.

Crimp-Tech Australia complies with CASA Advisory Circular 21.35 (1.1) Appendix A as we can demonstrate our compliance with calibration of crimp tooling through our factory training and extended product training with the OEM (Daniels Manufacturing Corporation) in relation to DMC tools.  Our test equipment used for calibration is check with a NATA certified calibration house or inhouse using the NATA checked equipment. We offer total traceability across the measurement range, have the technical competence to perform the calibration through OEM factory training, we retain records of calibration measurements that conform to the end user’s needs.

Traceability Statement – Calibration Certificates

We hereby certify that the equipment submitted for testing has been tested with applicable requirements to the calibration standards and procedures based on ISO 17025:2017 traceable to National or International Standards. All measuring equipment and gauges covered by our reports are traceable to National Standards and/or NIST. All equipment used for calibration procedures are checked annually or as required by either a NATA accredited facility or inhouse using NATA certified test equipment. Testing and/or calibration reports for equipment used and reference standards for calibration checks are kept on file at Crimp-Tech Australia or the equipment manufacturers office.

DMC Calibration Repair Centre

Crimp-Tech Australia is an Authorised DMC Calibration Repair Centre available to overhaul and repair Hand Tools, Pneumatic Tools, Hydraulic Tools and Wiring System Service Kits for periodic inspection & calibration.

 

 

Every 3-4 years, your DMC 8 indent tools (AFM8, AF8 and MH860) require servicing to replace the dry grease inside the tool. We completely strip down the tool, de-grease, replace faulty or worn parts, re-grease, re-assemble, re-calibrate and issue a Certificate of Calibration.

With wiring service kits, we clean & repair cases when possible and replace or upgrade foam cavities as needed. We also inspect & calibrate all tooling and determine if repairs or replacement needs to be made. Additionally we identify and replace missing tools, charts, & tool instructions.

When looking at calibration of tooling it is recommended to follow the OEM’s recommended calibration method, this does not exclude pull testing as a secondary calibration method and if no calibration method is set out by the OEM then it can be a primary calibration method.

The interval of calibration is largely dependent on usage of the tooling and industry norms, within aerospace this is usual every 12 months.  Most tools and die sets would use Go No-Go Gauges to check the space between the indenters or cavities in the die set.  Whilst pull testing is a good testing method for confirming the crimped contact is meeting a Military Specification or UL tensile test value one should be aware that a tool can over crimp a contact and this would potentially pass the pull test, however, may cause damage to the contact.

We would recommend checking the OEM recommended calibration method to determine the best course of action for calibrating your tools.
